Because of limited third-row kneeroom and a second-row center-seat position equipped with a fold-down armrest/cup holder, the GL is no seven-passenger limo, but it can nicely accommodate four adults, three kids, and 16 cubic feet of luggage.
The GL-Class is stuffed with all bits of digital magic, and many of the systems are standard equipment, including the air-ride suspension that smoothes out all but the most rugged travel.
What caught our attention is how well this big, 2-tons-plus SUV comports itself on all roads paved or otherwise.
Ride quality is exceptionally compliant with the standard setup of steel springs and conventional dampers.
Even more impressive than the power is the ML's handling. Simply put, it has far more grip and poise than it has any right to, given its tall ride height and weight.
Most important, the 7-in. COMAND screen has been moved to the top of the center stack, where it is more usable.

It's sure to please luxury-loving drivers with its compliant ride and tight handling, as well as its spacious interior and high-tech features.
As you'd want for an off-road vehicle, the brakes have an amazingly long travel, zero grabbiness and endless modularity. They're also devastatingly effective, as the G comes to a stop in a surprisingly short distance with absolutely no wiggle or pitch.

Life in the fast lane is calm and cool, extra confidence baked into the chassis by the SL's suite of electronic gizmos, including the standard stability control with brake-based torque vectoring and optional Automatic Body Control electronic dampers.
Merc itself acknowledges that the SL65 will not sell in big numbers: "We have developed [this car] for a small but loyal fan base," says AMG head Ola Kallenius.
When the seven-speed so-called Speedshift automatic upshifts, the exhaust produces a gratifying pop like a single handclap of applause. It invariably makes passengers say "oooooh."
